Micro Switches

Below we see a diagram of a micro switch, which is used as a tamper switch on control panels, bell boxes, and on the covers of some detection devices. (as shown in later sections).

OPERATION

A spring loaded switch is closed by applying pressure to a hinged lever. This pressure must be maintained to keep the switch closed. Three tags are provided for connection to the micro switch, these are: common, normally open and normally closed. (c, n/o, n/c). When used as a tamper switch, connection is made to the common and normally open tags, this means that constant pressure must be applied to close the tamper loop.
